![]() ![]() Residential properties in the Triangle area are clay based soils, and it is not physically possible for us to aerate to that depth. It would be nice if we could pull cores this deep on residential properties, but that is not possible. Here, Kenny is pulling 8 inch cores on Doak Field at NC State’s Dial Park. Aeration is usually done on Bermuda turf athletic fields in the summer time. The plugs will break down soon enough and provide plenty of nutrients to the turf.PHOTO - This is Kenny on our Kubota tractor using a deep tine aerator. A landscaper should leave the plugs on the lawn’s surface. (Aerating) is stressful to the lawn in the short term and healthy in the long term cutting the lawn directly after causes more stress and can cause damage.
